Pioneered by Snapchat and later copied by Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp, Stories feature is one of the most popular ways of sharing updates with friends and public followers on social media nowadays. Although Instagram Stories have been a huge hit, WhatsApp Status — a story-like feature on the messaging service — as well as Stories feature on Facebook failed to garner much response. Since the feature has seen failure on the largest social network and so the Menlo Park company is going to show its users Stories from Instagram. As pointed out by Matt Navara on Twitter, Facebook has started testing Instagram Stories on Facebook. Last month, in a bid to give a boost to the popularity of the Stories feature on Facebook, the company had rolled out Stories for desktop users and now they seem to be taking on a new approach to grow its popularity. h/t @mruiandre pic.twitter.com/VTqI92dNJe — Matt Navarra ⭐️ (@MattNavarra) September 6, 2017 We had earlier wrote that it made more sense if Facebook could just sync Facebook and Instagram stories — as it is both the services can be linked together for a single user. Stories feature was first debuted in the company’s Instagram app in early 2016 and after it started gaining widespread popularity, in the beginning of 2017, they released the Stories feature onto Facebook too. Although Snapchat was the first one to come out with the Story feature where the post disappears 24 hours after publishing, it has become quite popular on Instagram which has about 250 million followers and just last celebrated one year anniversary of the feature going live. Last week, Stories was also rolled out to the web version of Instagram, which gives users the ability to check out Instagram stories via the web version of the app on desktops and also on the mobile web.
