It’s a great service except for one issue. By default Firefox’s address bar is connected with Google search and hence you could directly type a query and press enter to get the search results in Google. Now, OpenDNS automatically replaces this with its own search engine. I came to know only when I conducted a search in my Firefox address bar.
Going back to Google as your default engine isn’t difficult. Here’s the step by step guide to do it in Firefox.
Type about:config in the Firefox address bar and press enter.
Click on “I’ll be careful, I promise!” button.
Type keyword.URL in the filter box. Right click on the result and select “Modify”.
In the box, enter the following value.
Now type your query in the address bar and boom!, you get Google search results.
This way you can successfully replace OpenDNS search with Google. Similarly, you could enter other string value in the box to add a different search engine.
